Let’s protect the
town we love.
Whether you just moved to this serene little town seeking peace for your family, have been here for years and are proud to raise your children here, or grew up in Fairfax and are now raising another generation here, we all want Fairfax to be an oasis for our children.
Sadly, many of us are seeing the political vitriol, division and culture wars we see in so many other places in America descend on Fairfax.
It’s ok to have opposing views. What isn’t ok is to attacks neighbors and town councilmembers.
To yell at our neighbors and make them afraid to speak their truths, put up a sign, or have a different point of view. To berate and threaten public officials and staff at meetings.
What about the issues that affect families?
Many of us are rightfully concerned about a big apartment building developers want to build a block from downtown. Recall activists say it’s the current town council’s fault. That’s a lie.
Recall activists themselves are responsible for the proposed 6-story apartment building at School Street Plaza, because for years they have blocked almost any effort at reasonable, state-mandated development. Now the state is cracking down - and recall activists are blaming their big mistakes on the very people doing their best to push forward reasonable solutions. This PODCAST breaks it down.
You might feel you’re too busy to think about any of this when you can barely keep your head above water with baby wipes, potty training, rides to soccer, putting dinner on the table, working hard to make ends meet, and the hundreds of things families are responsible for.
We feel you. And we’re so distressed at what’s happening in our town—and what could happen here—that we feel we need to take a stand for kindness, civility and truth. And do everything we can to protect the town we love.
Let’s show our children that love and community—not division and hate—win in Fairfax.
